This article is intended for administrators.
A 360° Feedback review cycle is a process during which employees can give and receive feedback.
There are already templates integrated into Elevo today. However, if you want to create and customize your templates, you can do so by going to 360 Feedback > Templates.
You then have two options:
- Start from a blank page: click on the +Add a template button,
- Starting from an existing template: click on the 3 dots to the right of the desired template and then on Create a copy.
Let's take the case where you start from a blank page, here are the different steps to create your template:
- 1️⃣ Give a name to your template
- 2️⃣ Enable or disable the options in the box on the right
- 3️⃣ Describe the goals of your review cycle
- 4️⃣ Create your template
- 5️⃣ Preview your template
- 6️⃣ Share your template
1️⃣ Give a name to your template
The template name is set on the right side of the screen, at the top of the options block.
For example 360° feedback, manager survey, etc.
2️⃣ Enable or disable the options in the box on the right
- Peer selection by the reviewee
- Self evaluation
- The anonymity of peer responses
- Restricted access to results
Peer selection by the reviewee
You can decide to let reviewees submit a list of peers, which will then be validated by the reviewer.
However, you may decide to disable this option, in which case the reviewer will select the peers himself.
Self evaluation
In a 360°, it is often interesting to compare our self evaluation with the assessment of our peers.
However, you can decide whether or not to activate the self-assessment, via the checkbox below.
If the option is enabled, you have a sub-option that allows you to make the participant's self-assessment by peers visible.
The anonymity of peer responses
You can decide to make your 360 feedback review cycle anonymous if you wish.
When this option is enabled, the names of the peers are not displayed on the results screen. A minimum of 3 peers is required on each review to ensure anonymity. If there are fewer than 3 peers, the results will not be displayed.
When the option is enabled, it does not change the fact that peers will have to be selected for each participant. The participant will be able to see the list of peers who are giving feedback but will not have the details of who has left what feedback.
Restricted access to results
You can choose to block the sharing of peer feedback results in the tool. Only the manager and the admins will have access to it.
If this option is disabled, the reviewee will be able to access the feedback given by their peers once the sharing is done by the reviewer.
3️⃣ Describe the goals of your review cycle
Describe, if you wish, the goals of your review cycle in the Introduction message box.
4️⃣ Create your template
- Available question types
- Make a question mandatory
- Formatting
- Inserting dynamic variables
- Inserting emojis in a template
You are now ready to create your survey. To do so, click on Add a block, then choose Title, Dropdown list, Text or Multiple scale.
Available question types
💡 Note: By default, the person being evaluated and their peers will be able to respond, but you can choose to uncheck the self-evaluation option (on the right) depending on your needs. In this case, only peers will be able to respond to the question.
"Text" type
With a text question, your employees will be able to answer freely to an open question.
"Dropdown list" type
With a dropdown list question, your employees will be able to choose an answer from a list of choices you define.
"Multiple Scale" type question
With a Multiple Scale question, your employees will be able to evaluate different criteria on a common scale.
This type of question allows you to :
- create a Likert scale, which you can use to measure opinions, perceptions and behaviours
Example of Notation : Strongly agree 👍 / Yes, rather agree 🙂 / Not strongly agree 🙁 / Not agree at all 👎 - create a numerical scale with a notation from 1 to 5 or using a notation from ⭐️ to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. We recommend using Likert scale ratings to obtain a clearer scale that is less open to interpretation than a numerical scale. A 2 may not have the same value or meaning for two different people.
Make a question mandatory
Nothing could be simpler, you just have to check the "Required" box when editing your template:
⚠️ Warning: If you check "Required" to a question with both a dropdown and a comment box, the employee will have to answer both to share.
Formatting
The text editor allows you to customize the introductory message and the description blocks of your template. The formatting is done with the buttons of the text editor that appears when you click on a text area.
The following formatting options are available:
- Bold [B]: Highlight a word or a set of words or structure the text for example,
- Italic [I] : To highlight a word or a set of words, to indicate a word or a sentence that is quoted, etc,
- Strikethrough [
S] : To indicate that an action has been performed or cancelled (in a list for example) or to indicate that an element is obsolete while mentioning it, - Link [-]: Insert a link to provide access to external documents necessary for the evaluation (for example, a link to a tutorial on the best way for a manager to write feedback), or to access resources (link to a video presentation by the HRD) etc,
- List: To air and clarify the content of the text. They can be of the "bulleted" type and thus bring together similar elements in a more visual and concise form. They can also be of the "numbered list" type and thus allow a hierarchy with different levels.
Keyboard shortcuts on Mac:
- Bold [B]: command ⌘ + B
- Italic [I] : command ⌘ + I
- Link [-]: command ⌘ + K
Keyboard shortcuts on Windows:
- Bold [B]: ctrl + B
- Italic [I]: ctrl + I
- Link [-]: ctrl + K
Inserting dynamic variables
Variables allow you to customize the texts with dynamic data and thus individualize the content of the interview. They can be used in the introduction message as well as in the description blocks of your model.
Here are the different variables available:
| Variable | Display in the template | Example |
| First name | [[reviewee.firstName]] | John |
| Last name | [[reviewee.lastName]] | Doe |
| Initials | [[reviewee.initials]] | JD |
| Full name | [[reviewee.fullName]] | John Doe |
| Team name | [[reviewee.teamName]] | Support |
| Work start date | [[reviewee.workStartDate]] | 10/04/2018 |
| [[reviewee.email]] | john.doe@success.fr | |
| Job title | [[reviewee.jobTitle]] | Support Agent |
| Registration number | [[reviewee.registrationNumber]] | 34562 |
| Level | [[reviewee.level]] | A1 |
| Service | [[reviewee.service]] | Customer Success |
| Department | [[reviewee.department]] | Customers |
| Region | [[reviewee.region]] | France |
|
Link to HRIS profile |
[[reviewee.externalEmployeeUrl]] | Lien |
To access the variables, you must insert a bracket "[" to display the drop-down menu with the different possibilities.
- Insert a bracket on Mac: simultaneously press "option ⌥ + shift ⇧ + 5"
- Insert a bracket on PC: simultaneously press "Alt Gr + (" or "Shift + Alt + ("
Inserting emojis in a template
Emojis can be very useful to make your survey templates more dynamic !
🍏 On Mac OS
A simple keyboard shortcut allows you to display the emoji keyboard: Control + Command + Spacebar. (see the Apple help article)

💻 On Windows
A simple keyboard shortcut allows you to display the emoji keyboard: Windows logo key + . (dot). (see the Windows help article)

5️⃣ Preview your template
You can preview the template you are creating at any time by clicking on Template preview.
6️⃣ Share your template
You can share a template to any Elevo user by clicking "Share" at the top right of the set-up page.
You will then need to select the user(s) concerned before clicking on “Share”. You cannot select an admin since they already have access to the templates.
💡 Please note that entity admins can only share templates to users they have access to.
They will receive the template in the form of an email notification with an access link and will be able to consult it in read-only mode (without the possibility of making changes) in preview form with the reviewer or reviewee view.
⚠️ Warning: This link must absolutely be kept because it is the only way for the user to access the template. If this link is lost, access to the template will need to be removed for the user and then given back to them (see below).
From the sharing modal, you can see which users have access to the template and revoke their access by clicking on the trash icon.
